Gina and I are back from FedCon in Bonn, Germany.
Unfortunately we had only one day, the Saturday, to attend the convention but nevertheless we had a lot of fun with all the people we met again.
This year, it seemed that FedCon had much more visitors than usual. Maybe because of the guest list, which was indeed great (missed the EBB ), maybe because there is no other big convention in Germany left.
Anyway, besides the chaos (the programm had a lot of turns and changes) Gina and I spent our time meeting friends and aquaintances we have been knowing for years.
We ignored the really cold and rainy weather outside by sitting in the hotel lobby, having fun with the people, drinking coffee and exchanging memories.
Due to the many events during the con we missed the Q&A's on Saturday.
Personally, I was very much interested in the Q&A's with Brent Spiner and John de Lancie but they had already been on stage on Friday, so they had none on Saturday. What a pity.
Gina and I went to the autograph session with John de Lancie and Brent Spiner and we had a nice meeting with John again.
I have been knowing him for 14 years, the very first time I saw him was in 1994 in Mannheim.
Geez, I was 22... now I am 36... and that I realize the most when I see myself on the picture of the photo session back then.
He was again very friendly and warm, just like I got to know him at other conventions.
And finally, Gina got to know him, too. Lucky her that she will meet him and Vaughn in Orlando again.
John is a nice and interesting person and it is always a pleasure to talk to him.
Brent Spiner seemed to be a little tired but he was quite charming and friendly. Other than usual, they all personalized the autographs and there was time enough to talk a little bit.
Generally, at autograph sessions at FedCon people are forced to hurry and sometimes you did not even see the actor who was signing because the staff rushed you out immediately.
But not this time.
At least not at the autograph sessions... other than during the photo session.
We felt like we were out again before we went in. It almost changed the laws of phyiks - in, hello, flash, out....huh? What was that? I can't tell how René Auberjonois looked like when we went in to make a photo with him... it was that fast... don't ask me what happended *lol*
By the way, René talks German very well, he even solved a German cross riddle at Galileo7.
Later there was an announcement that plans had changed and John will do a photo session.
So, Gina, Pia and I decided to take the chance but obviously nobody knew anything about it.
Anyway, we just had another cup of coffee (<---our best friend ) and enjoyed the rest of the day with all the nice people we have met.
Sorry that there is not much more to report but only one day is not enough to get a lot of impressions.
We missed Vaughn and the EBB. Hopefully, someday they will be at FedCon, too.
Here is the list of the stars that attended FedCon this year:
Bruce Boxleitner
Kevin Sorbo
Michael Shanks
Brent Spiner
John de Lancie
Marina Sirtis
Levar Burton
René Auberjonois
Jamie Bamber
Steve Bacic
Mary McDonnell
Peter Jurasik
Julie Caitlin Brown
W Morgan Sheppard
Nici Clyne
Michelle Forbes
EDIT: Oh, I forgot - finally Scotchy and I met in person.
We have been knowing for years and talked a lot on the phone.
Here is a picture Gina took of us. (Rasta-)Scotchy, myself and Annett. Nice "hair", Scotchy

I was quite happy to have a weekend ticket because it was not only my first FedCon it was also just my 2cnd Convention ever... so I didn't met one of the stars yet and I didn't now the stories...
So Martin and I spend most time in the panels and listen. We only skipped the BSG stuff...
I still can't belive that I really met LEVAR BURTON... I feel a bit like a teenager meeting her favourite Boyband It was so great. My hero... the one who is actual responsible that I kept on drawing when my art teacher telling me that I can't draw... he was really nice...
One of the first words at his panel on my question if he will write any more books were: "Oh I love you..." at this point Martin decided that, if we do the photosession, he also wants to be on the picture
It's funny... Tina described the photographer really good and on the one picture Martin was in the middle (btw: LeVar and myself are about 20cm smaller... great compositon) he seems to look down at LeVar a bit like 'Ha!.... She's mine'
I'm just happy at the moment...
some new signed comicstrips for the wall a cute picture... just great. |

I moved this topic from the "Conventions & appearances" forum here. I think the "Conventions & appearances" is for the Band's conventions and appearances. At least we always had other events in this section. Hope that's ok with everybody. _________________ The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams. |

Of course, no problem, Ulrike.
And sorry, I haven't noticed that there is a FedCon thread already.
Could you move the posts overthere, Ulrike?
Thanks _________________ Starboard Continuum |

I don't know. I can only move from one to another forum section. There is a button that says "split topic". But I didn't find one that says "melt topics".

Wow, I'm happy to hear that this encounter went well
..and WHAT?!!!! Someone told you that you cannot draw?!!!!! I think that must have come out of jealousy!!! _________________ "Note to the galley: Romulan Ale no longer to be served at diplomatic functions." |

My art teachers (I had two) did actually keep constantly saying to me that I cannot draw since grade 9.
I think they were not jealous... only stick to much to their opinion how things have to look like in the end... and they can't explain... |

Well, here is a sort of mini FedCon report by me.
Although Galileo7 will always be my favorite convention and I feel at home only at conventions Vaughn and the other boys from the EBB attend, I have to say that I enjoyed my self tremendously at FedCon. John de Lancie was very friendly and it was a pleasure to talk to him. Unfortunately there was no photo shoot with him on Saturday and I feel particularly sorry for Tina, as she has known him for such a long time but has only two photo together with him from a long time ago. Luckily for me, though, I will have the opportunity to see him again and get a photo with him in Orlando. The photo shoot with Kevin Sorbo was a highlight, like always, but the photo shoot with René Auberjonois went far too quick. He - like always - was very nice but the photographer hurried everybody through in warp speed so that it was over before you were ready to get your million dollar smile in place. I don’t know how the photo turned out – Pia will give them to us next Saturday because we weren’t there any more on Sunday - but I expect to see René and some blur that is me.
I didn’t see any of the actors' Q&As, because as we were there for only a few hours it was more important to me to meet as many friends as possible and so Tina and I spent a lot of the time sitting in the lobby (finally we conquered one of the sofas *gg*) talking and having fun.
Next year we’ll be there for the whole three days again. _________________

I like the picture too, Lani. It's a great way to remember the Con... As are all the other pics. I treasure all my own con pictures and I like browsing through them every now and then _________________ "In the middle of my backswing?!" |

Finally, Gina recieved the pictures of the photo session.
It looks like I tackled René
I didn't, I swear! *lol*
He pulled me that way and there was no time to pose because it all happened so fast.
But I like the way René looks into the camera...
